Okada has excellent sushi and very good small plates. I have not been to Koi in LV yet, but have been to its LA branch and thought it was very good; more importantly, the new head chef at Koi (which just opened) was formerly the owner of a fabulou and much missed sushi restaurant, Koto.
Stripsteak is one we've been wanting to try, so if you go, I'll certainly be interested in hearing about it. Gourmet mag this month had a very favorable write up on Guy Savoy, and I think that will be our next big splurge.
Yes, we love sushi and Japanese food, and wanted to dine at Japonais on the night we are seeing LOVE at the Mirage, but unfortunately it is closed that night, so we are settling with Stack. We had also wanted to go to Joel Robuchon, but it is also closed during our stay, so we are going to L'Atelier instead. Sadly, we are batting 0-for-2 for our choice of restaurants!
I've been to Koi in L.A. as well, it was pretty good, so it may be worth checking out in Vegas. Thanks also for the suggestion for Okada. We actually don't have that many nights in Vegas, so unless these restaurants serve lunch, we're thinking of skipping sushi in Vegas since we're also going to Urasawa in L.A., which we hope will at least approach the magic of our dinner at Ginza Sushiko more than 10 years ago.
We are seriously gravitating toward Guy Savoy, but also don't want to overdo it on the French. If you had only one choice, would you pick Guy Savoy or L'Atelier?
