OK so I went to the HKG FC lounges this week and while I have been there before this time I had a HUGE layover and had plenty of time to sample everything. I have seen both the Wing and Pier but this time I spent all my time in the Wing.
First, the cabanas are a bit loud. Not so much I care about the noises from other people around me, but I feel so weird. Like I have to tiptoe around so the noise does not echo around the place. I really get a sense that people in there don’t realize there are other people around them in other cabanas. It also feels so odd to be so exposed and see the color silhouettes of people walking past in the frosted glass. Like I am totally doing something wrong in the airport. They had a very shallow wading pond lined with rocks in front of the cabana which when I sat in was totally cold and from which I could virtually see everyone else in their cabana (just kidding of course).
The water power from the showers are amazing, however, you actually have to be in the shower to adjust the temperature. Shower gel was pretty good stuff but they combine the shampoo and conditioner into one product.
I walked out to the Heaven dining area in my robe and slippers and got some very odd looks from the staff. (just kidding again)
Lunch in the Heaven was pretty good – well the best of any lounge I have ever seen. At dinner time they put out some very special items such as lamb and three kinds of fish. After walking over to the business class lounge section I still have to say I like it over there. Everything is laid out for you and you will find things that you did not know even existed over in the FC lounge. There is also a bar in the business class section. I thought most spoke English in Hong Kong but for some reason they could not understand anything I would ask for but maybe I just mumble too much.
Over in the FC lounge the staff will offer you a drink as soon as you sit down but unlike Vegas will bring it to you immediately and will refill it whenever they see it is empty.
There is a downstairs business class part of the WIng that lacks much of anything but a few sorry souls sit down there because the sign pointing upstairs says First Class Lounge so they think they can’t go up. That is sad when I think about it cause they miss out on quite a bit upstairs.
