Be absolutely sure you're going to be there for that flight though, because sometimes GAs will just clear the whole list and have BPs ready to go. If you aren't there, you've been offloaded from your original flight and bad things could happen.
Has that actually happened to you? I've never seen it done that way. Every time I've seen a GA clear the standby list, they call the names out before processing it.
There should be no risk in putting yourself on standby for an earlier flight and then not showing up. If anyone has had problems with this, please let me know- very concerning!!
