If I'm able to save my
*points because I stayed at a Choice Hotel property, I consider that a value
opportunity.
We stayed in Lisbon and it only cost me 6000 points, instead of the 10,000 *points I would have spent otherwise. If I value *points at 2 cents per point (YMMV), vs the 3/4 cents (read 3 fourths of a cent) for Choice, I'm ahead of the game. If I would have paid for the room (heaven forbid), either the Choice, or the *wood would have set me back $150-$200. So with this logic, hey, I'm a Flyertalker, my 6000 point award was worth 2.5 cents per point minimum.
When I stay in Rochester NY, I usually Priceline an airport hotel. Total cost in the $50 range. On my recent trip, I cashed in 8000 (now 10,000) Choice points
for a room. The math works out to half a cent per point. Not good value, but with the credit card sign up bonus', and the
ahem, recent conversions via CO and AGR, I'm a little point heavy.
Last year I didn't take advantage of the promo that Choice offered. This year? Who knows.
As with all these
what's a point worth threads on Flyertalk, it's always YMMV.
