HKG also has lower cost of living than the US. HKG based FAs are on the same pay scale as the US since they are covered by the union contract. BKK based FAs are not allowed to fly to the US, they can only fly intra-Asia because of the union contract. HKG based FAs get paid more and are not route restricted.
I think it's fair to say you pretty much missed the point there. The get paid a fair market wage for where they live and the work performed.
I wonder, are they fired on a whim routinely or subjected to dangerous work conditions......I thought not.
