The previous poster probably should have chosen a SFO-HKG flight map, but they are basically the same as LAX-HKG for most days.

And while fuel stops for SFO-HKG is less common, they do happen. Multiple CX and SQ SFO-HKG flights stopped for fuel at ICN or TPE last winter. Less so for UA.
