The crowded unpleasant pool area was the final issue for us and we were quite surprised to see the large number of families around the pool given the slightly off the beaten track location of the property.
From what I understood from one of the rather embarrased staff members, was that they sell pool access membership to local residents on a monthly/annual basis. Hence the crowd & families there and the lack of space for actual hotel guests.
