Because the 777 was configured with only 26 Business Premier and 18 Premium Economy seats (because that is all that the China and Japan markets will support) it is, in my experience, invariably the case that there are virtually never any available Z/D/E/O class tickets to SFO and YVR because the airline's yield management software shows that they can fill the cabins with C and U class fares.
As a result, I keep having to take the 747 NZ1/2 to LAX to connect to SFO, because my company's travel policy does not allow C class fares.
