It all depends on your taste. For me, the view from a North West facing room at the Strings is pretty darn special - great in the day, spectacular at night. From a Strings Panoramic or corner room, it is awesome.

If anyone is actually interested, I can post links to impartial photographs of the views from all these properties. It seems its more about 'taste' than which is actually 'the best' or 'the nicest'.

As you say, it is all about personal taste. When I am in a city, I find the urban skyscape what I want to experience and thus in a city like Tokyo would opt for a city view over the Bay. (I've seen the bridge and aside from some weird architecture on the other side, feel the city offers more variety to look out on, particularly if one has binoculars and scan the various districts and parks.) That said, in Yokohama the harbour view was a nice change since that city's architecture is not very interesting (aside from the older pre-1920s buildings). But as you note, everyone has a different opinion. Fortunately on my stays earlier this month I received the ideal views for my interests for each city.

As for free internet, I know The Strings has a small business centre with two PCs for free web access. Yokohama has a similar set up, though charges Y200 every 10-minutes.

Sorry if I offended the OP with my initial response, but the maps are good enough to relate the various properties to their immediate districts, and from there determine proximity to where you need to go. I find Google and other map software very wanting in being able to identify specific locations, and was misdirected on a couple of occasions in Yokohama using their printouts. But there is no doubt that The Strings is actually the most conveniently located IC in the city given it is on the JR circle line (as well as to NRT) and virtually non-stop or one connection from getting you to any major destination by JR or subway.
