I recently received the following mail and sent the response below. I'd be interested in the view of the FT faithful....

Dear Dr GB,
You may have heard about the public consultation the Government has just launched on its plans to expand Heathrow airport.
Find out more
As a regular flyer from Heathrow, you will know how prone it is to delays. Whilst Terminal 5 will deliver a seamless and relaxed customer experience, we are still restricted by the limited take off and landing slots available at Heathrow.
<Blah.....blah...>
With best wishes,
Willie Walsh
Chief Executive, British Airways
<START OF RESPONSE>
Dear BAEC,
I'd be very interested in telling Mr Walsh how he could improve the current service offered by BA to its frequent flyers. However, this would not include the the need for an expansion to to the airport.
British Airways' product is dull, in the air and on the ground.
Virgin has the upper hand in terms of the terminal experience, in the air and the frequent flyer club. Singapore Airlines offers a cabin services that makes First fell like World Traveller, just in their business class.
Building another terminal to improve through flow won't change this position; an exceptional offering to the frequent flyers would. Unfortunately, for me, and serveral of the posters at flyertalk.com, this opportunity has been missed.
I'd welcome Willy's response.
Regards,
GB
