There are some ways around that as well - £10k is for the black card, so get one of those.
You can buy stuff for work, use it for all your shopping and maybe 'launder' a few quid through as gift cards etc. and if really stuck, just buy a fully refundable flight for somewhere very expensive - so long as you can handle the interest or pay the balance off with savings you have minimal costs. Then, next month, just cancel the ticket for a refund, having been sent your AMEX for cracking the 10k barrier the month before.
