Cava can also be very good if you know what you selecting. Just like a £5 bnottle of champagne is awful, so is a cheap bottle of cava.
If you're looking for a nice cava, try and look for Parxet
http://www.parxet.es/ It's very nice, and there is a shop on c/Valencia, near the intersection with c/Aribau called Xampanyet, or something similar and they sell only cavas. It's a nice little shop with loads of cavas, so there is something for every taste.
