No compensation warranted here, but a seething letter to the travel division of AMEX that handled your ticket. Point out that you arrived over 2 hours early for your flight and that you are certain that if you were much later, you would have missed it. Don't ask for compensation, just point out their own mistakes and ineptness in handling the situation. If all you get is an apology, then so be it.

Can someone tell me how electronic tickets can be 'stolen'????
