orithm obviously depends on spend. I'm sure I could get 200K EQPs for a little over $10K; however, this is not the flyer that AA is looking to reward.

There are numerous factors that go into the decisions to grant things like EVIP's. And the equation mentioned above isn't it. (That said, when you get 125k like last year). Because I value my job I'm not going not go into it further, but suffice it to say, it was not OP's miles/points only that came into the mix.
