The rather well promoted Champagne bar is impressive. It might be 93m long (the bar area, not the bar itself) but it looks likely to be rather popular. There was a 100+ person queue to get in tonight so your correspondent decided a pint at the pub was a better idea. This is tucked away in a corner, and gives a more panoramic sense of space. No ale (), but Budvar on tap and Jura whisky on the counter. Certainly an upmarket crowd, including the first person toting a bowler hat I’ve seen in years.
Let me get this right - a pub with no ale but a trendy champagne bar.
Yep,they really do have their fingers on the pulse of ordinary rail travellers.
Although John Betjeman would have approved !
Until I felt a filthy swine
For loathing beer and liking wine,
And rotten to the very core
For thinking village inns a bore,
And village bores more sure to roam
To village inns than stay at home.
