BECAUSE UA HAS MADE THE PROMISE THAT IF WE DO SPEND OUR MONEY ON THEM THEY WILL TREAT US MORE SPECIALLY!!!!
If UA starts to fail to do this, then there IS no reason not to fly Frontier. And UA will go out of business.
Elite status is a win/win proposition. We're loyal, they suck up. If we stop being loyal, they stop sucking up. If they stop sucking up, we stop being loyal.
Does this make us snobby? NO, it makes us participants in a complex game of bribery and payolla!!!
