It's this sort of behaviour by traditional travel companies that has driven us into the arms of LCCs, and has proved a disaster for those very same traditional companies who thought they were protecting their business. I remember my delight the first time I realised I could book a single on easyjet and forget about the return, the saturday night stayover and 100 other different but vaguely similar anti-competitive rules. If these sort of rules (eg saturday stayover, or pay-the-single-fare if you fail to take the return flight) were actually enforced by BA, then frankly I'd be moving to easy and ryan for all my short haul flights.
