That's an odd place for it to go, as IAD-PEK should be a polar route, or at least one through reasonably northern Alaska and deep into Siberia. On the great circle map, IAD-KIX is actually longer than IAD-PEK by 47 miles. Any idea why it went there?

I guess the wife picked the right day (Friday) to fly on 897 :-)
