Thanks Jamiel, looking at the Mileage Plus rules document, this one wasn't included in the ANZ section. Must be an "unadvertised special" . I'd rather fly ANZ than UA. And as far as a long flight and layover, I did this last month on a paid ticket - America West from ATL-PHX-LAX, then 7 hours in LAX, then LAX-SYD on ANZ. A rather tiring trip. (And then 3 days of solid rain in "Sunny Sydney").
