Can you use UA miles for award travel from the U.S. to Australia on Air New Zealand, or can you only travel to Auckland (or burn another award from Auckland to MEL or SYD)?

And would the ANZ award only include LAX to Auckland, or would it also include the rest of my domestic leg (ATL-LAX)? The UA award schedule seems to indicate only LAX to Auckland. Thanks.
