I have changed seats within the 24-hour mark, just before checking in, therefore they are still available for those with status.

Even when seats are under airport control, most GAs won't assign non-status pax to them unless other seats are not available. I've been in flights that were more than 95% full, and sat alone in my three seat row.

Thus, I am pretty sure the answer is "no".
