I read that the middle seat pairs are best for traveling couples.... but we usually like the window/ aisle configuration when we have gone First in a 2/2 configuration. In a 777 if we each took a window seat.... for example 2A and 3A.... would we be able to talk or at least see each other or are they too isolated.

Thanks.
Although on a 747 I had the same problem of which seats to choose. I was advised on 4E/F but in the end they were gone by the time I had faffed about.
We had been allocated 3A and 4A so I stuck with them and TBH I am glad we did as you do have extra room and they feel more exclusive. Most of our flight was overnight so the wife was asleep most of the time or had headphones on when awake so we wouldn't have done much talking anyway.
She joined me at my table at 3A for meal service and she used the buddy seat which was fun and she didn't complain too much about it's comfort.I would always choose the window seats over the centre ones as long as the wife doesn't mind.
