They did the correct thing, IMO. This would have been one of the two international terminals in "B" EWR.
What bothers me is that utility workers could not find a natural gas (or high levels of carbon monoxide) leak -- something this could be attributed to. Hopefully they will continue looking into this. This wouldn't be the first time something "unknown" such as this has happened.
This reminds me of an incident at the Virgin Blue terminal at MEL. There was some type of leak with an odor in the air, a number of people got sick, but they could not find the cause.
