I found SEA's checkin, for example, to be confusing the first time through, but it made more sense later (they have a full fare F/1K line, then a PremEx/Upgrades line, then a Premier/Y line). </font>
Now I will admit it has been a few weeks since I have taken a flight out of SEA, but last I checked, they had only two Premier checkin lines at SEA: Full Fare/1K (almost no one ever in that line) and Premier/*G. The Premier line is usually fairly long and obviously what non-seasoned travelers think would be a reasonable length, since there are quite a few non-Premiers that get into it. Some people are pretty mad when they are told to go stand at the end of the really long non-Premier line after standing in the Premier line for a few minutes. It is right by one of the main entrances to the terminal, which adds to the confusion. ORD has the right idea: tuck the Premier section off on the end, so people are less likely to mistake it for the main Y line.
