Here are the steps I use:

1. Look on FC to see what's POSSIBLY out there and look at when the cheapest fares begin and end.

2. Use flexible dates search on Cheaptickets or Orbits to see what's REALLY out there and see what date combos get the cheapest fares.

3. Locate and book fare on airline's website.

I think Step 2 answers the OP's question.
