My experience is a little different - I could discern no difference in treatment.
I certainly came across a diference bwtween WP and WP PG - This manifested itself in seat pre-allocation for Qantas domestic flights. Were I was generally getting aisle seats in rows 7-9 on 737's as a WP, I now get rows 4 and 5 almost all the time as a WP PG.
