I believe that if a flight is 2 hours or more, some sort of snack or meal would be served on domestic flights if your departure time is between 6am-9am, 11am-2pm, 6pm-8pm. For some longer flights like transcon and international, you would definitely be served a meal.

Hmm....I fly ORD-AUS regularly (often upgraded) and it always depart around 7:35 pm or thereabout. Now I see that it'll depart at about 8 pm...does anyone know whether they still serve snack in 1st class? If they're not going to serve snack, I guess I won't bother upgrading then... I heard vague rumours online here about this, but I can't find it...
