EasyJet isn't necessarily better service... I find the way they hawk their lottery scratchcard things to be much more annoying than anything Ryanair does. Ryanair might also fit his schedule better, or something, who knows.

That said, easyJet's site http://easyjet.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/...php?p_faqid=30 seems pretty clear that they won't give any sort of refund. The taxes and fees on easyJet are a lot lower than on Ryanair and others, so it is unlikely there would be anything significant left after "administration fee" anyway.
