Buy a RT C class ticket IAD-BRU-IAD (I think you have already?) and extend the return to be far in the future. Fly the outbound, IAD-BRU and then just buy the tickets in the future BRU-IAD-BRU. When the project is over, fly the remaining BRU-IAD on the original ticket.
If the "1 week a month" project is going to be longer than 1 year (the validity of the original ticket) then you either need to buy a one way IAD-BRU to start this off (and a one way BRU-IAD to finish) or you can just take the original ticket return portion BRU-IAD at some point within a year and buy one way to BRU.
Yeah, I put 2+2 together a few minutes after I posted and figured this was about what you were going to say... I think this would be a bit too complex to attempt at my particular company. Plus, I don't think I can expense my airline tickets until I have flown the whole itin.
I'll just let 'em keep spending coin on me, but I will definitely keep this tip in mind for the months where my wife wants to join me.
