Interesting. I share your opinion that they would want to stay *A, but that's based on nothing but pure conjecture. Is there any reason why the new UA/DL and US couldn't peacably coexist in *A? I'm not sure what the codeshare advantage would be to such an arrangement, but would UA/DL staying necessarily mandate the removal of US?
As a disaffected US flyer based in PIT, I'm very curious to see how this all shakes out...
