Reporting in now as a Gold, and very underwhelmed by this hotel last week.

I knew we'd be arriving late, so I called the hotel the day before to confirm my 2Q room. Sure enough, checking in at 8pm was told that they only had 1K rooms available. I politely said that this was unacceptable, and that I had already confirmed it, and he needed to find something for me. After 5 min, he found a random room on the 10th floor that "might be available" and said he would check it himself.

I decided to go upstairs with him. While there were no bags in the room, it was obvious that someone had been in it - pillows were moved around, one towel unfolded. I declined the room, but he said it was all they had, and he'd refund my reservation (cash and points) if needed (no offer to find another room in another *wood, let alone other property).

Gave up since there were a number of us staying there, but insisted that housekeeping come re-makeup the room. At least that happened quickly and efficiently. After expressing my disappointment to the checkin guy that this happened after confirming in advance, and that I realized I'm "only *wood Gold" but expected to be treated much better. He offered to have a manager call me, which obviously never happened. No one was available when we were headed out the next morning, so I left a note at the front desk to have someone call me, which also never happened. We left too early on Sunday to bother again.

I realize that these things happen, but the way it was handled - and their attitude to me - was terrible. Given that the hotel was sold out, I didn't expect a change, but to have the issue recognized was critical. No response yet to my email to the hotel.

On to the room: Very basic Westin room. Great bed obviously, but simple furnishings. No view from the 10th floor (unless you count Subway and CPK). Non-plused by the flat screen TV since they don't have HD, so it isn't a great picture. Elevators were not an issue as desribed above, even though this room was adjacent (or I'd had too many cocktails to notice )

Bathroom was tired, which surprised me. One shower head. Shower didn't drain (!!). Towels - even the Heavenly sheet - were anything but soft. Let's just say that this certainly wasn't a Heavenly Bath.

Restaurant/Bar: Didn't eat there, but sampled the bar. Terrible service one night, great service the next. Friendly staff who quickly and efficiently served both the bar and the adjacent lounge area (which had been taken over for a football watching party). Strong drinks ^

I realize I only had a very basic "standard" room here, but I certainly wouldn't have paid the $279/night they wanted for it. That, coupled with my treatment as a Gold, pretty much make me cross this off the list. If I were still a Plat, sounds like things would be different.
