Well after calling again and talking to a different agent, she told me 100% that the fare is not on hold, only the seat, and that the fair is re calculated once I call to confirm the booking.

Isn't it just great how some agents can put you in a position where you lose out simply because they do not know the rules, and then there is nothing you can do about it!!!
