I can think of only two times in the last year that I actually sat in E-. One was just a standby situation, where I elected to take a lousy seat (and forgo F!) to get home early. The other was last year around Christmas, on an SFO-IAD flight that I had booked a few weeks in advance -- even a few weeks ahead of time, the only fares left were U and up, and the only seats were in E-. (Other flights were not viable options.) I figured I might be able to clear the upgrade waitlist or, failing that, slip into an E+ seat when someone else cleared the upgrade, but alas, neither of those things happened.
Went through quite a few of those 1K drink coupons that day ...
