Not to hijack the OP's thread, but too good an opportunity to miss.

Mrs Mee and I will be somewhere in Belgium/Netherlands over christmas. I am fairly worried about where to stay & what to do on Christmas eve/day and boxing day.

So I would appreciate any suggestions, particularly
- where in that region would be best to stay over that period
- what would be open over the christmas period (specifically food, sights, etc)

We are not really "christmassy" people, but don't mind the atmosphere if there are markets and other things going on.

Any suggestions most welcome
