Some time ago I would fly TG and credit miles to UA MP. My name on my TG tickets did not have my middle initial, but there was no problem in getting my miles credited to MP, which did have my initial.

Then, a number of years ago, I switched practice and put 100% of my TG miles onto my TG ROP account. I noticed that only a few percent of the flights were credited. Finally, a helpful TG agent noted that the names didn't match up, and that I should have my travel agent begin making reservations exactly as my name was entered on the ROP records. Problem solved.
