Interesting. A friend and I were talking about this very thing tonight (he was trying to find a room <500 per night in New York City next week. There has been record occupancy rates at hotels (some reports have stated that they are at pre-9/11 occupancy) so why would they have to resort to promos? Also, since EMEA and Asia-Pac economies are doing well I don't see it "softening" soon.

Also, I'm with others who say that the double stays/extra points promo offered this last quarter has been excellent.
