I can confirm that UA lost money on this aircraft because of the low fares being charged, and the relatively light loads made the yield too low to support the route (specially in competition with QF).

I've yet to confirm this change with someone I know in scheduling though....

I'll miss 847/848 - they're "my" flight numbers!!
