Its the same way within a tier.

A One MM PLT is still a PLT and does not trump out a no MM PLT (or even a PLT-Lite).

As a 4MM EXP I really would like to trump out those 1MM EXPs .. but aa's system does not show that information on the upgrade list. All it shows is tier and whether we are originating or thru pax (and AC member and some other information that the wiki mentions). As such a thru pax sometimes gets a slight benefit compared to an originating pax.

But an EXP is an EXP. A PLT is a PLT etc.

BA has a 'profit' code of some sort built into their manifest list that shows how valuable a pax is .. but to our collective knowledge, AA does not list it at least! I bet they collect it but do a lot more metrics than just EQP vs EQM ... two paid First and 10 RJ round trips certainly would be more 'profitable' than 20 cheapest flights from a city.
