No more ramen on NRT flights? (BYOR?)
Ok, so I thought that the recent FT hoolabaloo about no more Godiva chocolates on UA was overblown. I mean, can't people just bring their own Godiva chocolates on board instead of whining incessantly about them not being provided?
But then the cutbacks hit me where it hurts. See, I have a little ritual on flights from the US to Narita. Right after the main meal, I have a glass of port, which knocks me right out... and when I wake up hungry about 8 hours later, I go get a bowl of ramen from the snack cart. Hits the spot, you know?
Alas. As I meandered toward the snack cart in my half-awake state today, and asked about my beloved styrofoam ramen bowls, I was told that they are no more -- victims of the cutbacks. What? No ramen? Isn't ramen so cheap that people joke about it? How much could they be saving on this one?
Well, if anyone else knows about the disappearance of the ramen, or would like to commiserate, please reply. Since I thought the Godiva malcontents should bring their own Godiva onboard -- I guess it's time for me to BYOR?
