Here's where things stand...I have called Motorola several times, have been given a claim number and been told three times to expect a call from some upper-level issues management personnel...which has not materialized. I think I just may go with the option suggested to contest the original purchase, since the manufacturer has significantly altered the product.
(Yes, I realize you can have these things unlocked easily. I also realize that taking my phone to an out-of-network service provider will most likely void my warranty, the procurement of which is why I paid over $250 for a new phone direct from the manufacturer. Had I wanted a warrantyless product, I'd've gone with Ebay...which frankly I am wishing I had done to begin with...)
Oh, and I have my contacts, it's my text messages that were overwritten. I'd love any thoughts on how to back those up to a MacBookPro from anyone who's done it.
sorry, but you were in the wrong. Contesting the purchase might go in your favour but if it doesn't remember it's no one's fault but your own. Good luck though and let us know how it goes.....
