The pilots at UA said they have received ``substantive'' proposals on key issues during contract negotiations but union leaders remain cautious and have activated a strike committee just in case.
Both the pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, and United, a unit of Chicago-based UAL
have set Labour Day as the target for getting a new contract, the first new deal since employees took majority control of the company in 1994.
