I'm no AA expert.. but I though that for domestic flights where they use a 3 class plane they will let elite flyers sit in the business section but it's really coach service.. and that only the F class section is first class (making it essentially a 2 class plane with better seats for some). Or is that only for mid-cons? Maybe this being a transcon flight it was considered 3 classes?
