Presumably by "as individuals" you mean "as employees" rather than when travelling at your own expense. If so, this doesn't hold at all companies. We have a policy that specifically forbids choosing an airline on the basis of frequent flyer benefits. And there are some organizations which forbid the use for personal travel of miles earnt on business travel (seeing them, I think, as a non-taxed perk of questionable legaility).
