Does anyone have any knowledge of eva? My husband wants to fly an airline which has a great safety record and good pilots- just read today that pilots are hired by airlines in india without indian authorities checking their certification. that is a cause for concern. I dont think this applies to Eva but I would appreciate any info
Eva is a Taiwanese airline:
Have flown EVA for over 15 years, mostly in business with some economy deluxe flights. Their service and product have definitely deteriorated over the years but compared to any of the US carriers I fly regularly, they are still way better in many ways (especially service) and cost notably less too.

Their safety record is excellent and ground service in TPE is among the tops I've experienced. I've had several international connections (SEA-TPE, TPE-SIN or KUL) where the inbound was delayed so we had less than 15 minutes between doors opening on the arriving 744 and pushback of the departing 332. My bags always made it.
