There is no way you should be flying BA for these flights if you can at all help it. AA is by far and away the better option.

100% elite qualifying miles (7 JFK returns would make you Platinum) coupled with 200% redeemable miles, coupled with the same redemption availability as BAEC but requiring considerably less miles make it a no brainer surely?
