I didn't mention anything about 2k because the thread was about 1k. However, now that the topic is raised, I will note that I've been suggesting 2k and above to UA marketing for years. A few 1k's might drop out because they feel discouraged about not being able to attain top status, and take their business elsewhere, but I would guess, talking to a lot of 1k's, that there would be a serious net gain in revenue for UA, as most 1k's would keep plugging away towards 2k or more. I've already requal'd for 1k a couple of months ago, will hit 2k for the year soon, and am trying to give most of the 100k or so additional miles to other airlines (flying on their metal, not just crediting UA miles to *A partners).
