Hi
Well I can certinly see where the OP is going with this and I have to agree. For my last year as BA Silver I was finding it very hard to earn TP due to the BACon sale, Logainair stopping flights to DUB, Aer Lingus being so cheap that I hardly rcvd any TPs on a lot of flights I did with them.
Even before BACon was sold off, some of my trips (domestic) did not rcv TPs and some of the other prices where so high that I could not justify the cost.
I was very very lucky that the few weeks before my renewal I had a WT+ trip to the USA and a few AA trips when I was over there, but I was still 20tp shot but managed a private consulation job which meant I had to do a GLA<>LHR, so actually was over the limit of TPs for silver.
Now if I could have rcvd the 5tps people were talking about it might have been just that bit easier for me and I could have used BA for some other flights as well instead of KLM.
My company are also stingy with regards flights but if I am doing my own private work then I charge accordingly, private consulation is fun, folk expect you to charge a lot of money, maybe I should do more of it.
Saying all of the above I do hope the BA might change the rules a bit, can only live in hope, but it looks as if I may requalify for BA Silver by the middle of December. A month ago there was a slight chance that I would qualify within the year but with things at work changing its looking like I might even have a chance of making BA Gold.
Its funny how things can change from one minute to the next. Its even worse as I might have to work at AUH so you can imagine my horror to find all these F class runs I could do if I wanted to pay for it out of my own pocket
I also agree that BA Silver is good to have and with my travel plans for the next few months I will certainly make the most of it again, I dont know if Gold would make that much differance but what the heck its a nice shiny badge and I get to change my profile on FT.
