You can also take the shuttle bus S1 (HK$3.5) for the short ride between the airport and the Tung Chung MTR and then take the MTR to the city (HK$23 to Hong Kong station; different for other stops).

The MTR uses the same tracks as the AE and run at same speed. Just a few more stops and less comfortable seats.
