British Airways and Cardiff

Reading something of interest has prompted me to start this thread which is well over due.

There are always thread about how the regions are 'hard done by'. However may I point out there is no part of the country worse off than Wales in terms of airline service.

Bristol has transformed itself as a result of Easyjet and Ryanair almost to a level similar to Gatwick (minus the long hauls). Yet Cardiff is being totally forgotten.

I will accept that the catchment area for the airport is not as great as Bristol (especially with the £5.10 'Welcome to Wales' on the M4 bridges ).

However:

1 - BA maintain their aircraft in Cardiff
2 - The inflight entertainment has an advert for Welsh Toursim
3 - BusinessLife even has adverts for Wales.
4 - BMED (when it existed) use to fly an A321 into and out of Cardiff daily not to loose a slot at LHR.

Manchester has 9 flights a day to LHR and 7 to LGW
Glasgow has 10 flights a day to LHR and 5 to LGW
Edinburgh has 11 flights a day to LHR and 6 to LGW
Aberdeen has 7 flights a day to LHR and 4 to LGW
Newcastle has 6 flights a day to LHR
Newquay(!!!) has 1 flight a day from LGW

After all this is there absolutely no commerical sense to fly CWL to either LHR or LGW at least once a day. Would EDI really miss having 10 flights and not 11?

Is it really that good for the environment the thousands of us all individually driving to Heathrow and Gatwick who want to fly BA?

It can't be a slot issue as BA are probably one of the largest users of Cardiff airport flying their 777 and 747's in and out after BMIbaby.
