Er, Eva is a pretty good airline. As for India / pilots being hired without checks.. the certification is checked.
There was a news story a couple of days back about a local flight school's chief pilot was taking bribes from student pilots getting their certification elsewhere (say at flying schools in the USA) and signing their logbooks without actually doing checks. He got arrested for that.
